I mean, Leonardo DiCaprio, really? That had already spoiled half the fun, then they bring Tobey Maguire in to play Tom!! What is this? When they announced it would be directed by Buz, I mean come on, the man did Australia, he directed the hollywood-est movie ever! It couldn’t get any worse.
But oh, it could. That trailer. I may cry. I mean… It’s Gatsby. Why would they… It’s The Great Gatsby. They can’t just… They can’t just make it all into a big show with flashy lights and well-known actors and just expect…
and what’s with those partys? Gatsby’s partys weren’t all black-ish and glittery. WHAT.
To say everything isn’t at a loss, Daisy seemed quite perfect. Never liked Mia Farrow playing her (won’t begin to comment about that movie), and Carey Mulligan just seems to have nailed it. her looks… quite perfect.
don’t think it will make up for the whole movie though. I mean, of course, who the fuck am I to say all these things, and hey, maybe the movie will be better. maybe (hopefully) the movie won’t be filled with that ridiculous music. it’s just…

The Apartment: According to Shirley MacLaine, much of the movie was written as filming progressed. The gin rummy game was added because at the time she was learning how to play the game from her friends in the Rat Pack. Likewise, when she started philosophizing about love during a lunch break one day, this was also added to the script:
”[…] It was different because on The Apartment, we only had 29 pages of script, and what he [Billy] did was wait to see how the relationship and the chemistry and all that between Jack and me would develop, and then he wrote it accordingly. Actually, he put the gin scene in, where we were playing cards, because he knew I was playing gin with Dean and Frank all the time”.
